I had severe Lyme in ’99, requiring 6 months of IV antibiotics. A year later, I developed chronic pain, diagnosed as fibromyalgia. I call it Lyme’s arthritis. Tramadol saved my life. I had depression for 10 years between 8 and 18 years old, tried several antidepressants with no success. One day, shortly after coming out of the ER for a suicide attempt, I took 200 mg of tramadol without knowing anything about its possible use for depression, and the depression just went away for around 2 days. After that, I decided to take 100 mg every 12 hours, and it worked really well, the depression never came back. After 4 years, I decided to stop because I have sleep apnea and tramadol can worsen this condition. I divided the dosage in half every week or two until it was less than 12 mg, and then I stopped. I took 50 mg of pregabalin for the first day or two to avoid physical withdrawal symptoms, then nothing, and I barely felt any discomfort. Tramadol is a lifesaver for my fibromyalgia pain. I take 1 50 mg pill, and the effects often last 48 hours. So, I take it every other day or every third day. Have taken a few times before. 100-200 mg works like a charm for RLS. You won’t be able to feel your legs at all. It is fine to take during the day and better than other opioids like oxycodone or Vicodin because it does not make you nearly as tired, but it will give you a mood boost. 50 mg works a little bit, but 100 mg is when you really feel it working.

I’ve had three back operations, and I’m still in pain. Tramadol is the best medication I’m on out of everything: 8 50mg pills per day. It takes the edge off my pain, and I know when I need more. For over 31 years, I’ve taken low dose Vicodin and then low dose Norco (1/2 of a 10-325 Norco in the morning and sometimes another 1/2 in the afternoon according to mood). Tramadol has been great for me. Hydrocodone and OxyContin take only about 20-30 minutes before I begin to feel relief, but tramadol takes even longer. Tramadol takes about an hour for it to kick in after I take it, but when it finally does, it works fantastically. It doesn’t make me feel quite as ‘high’ as the other opioids, and it seems to last longer as well. Hydrocodone or OxyContin give me insomnia when taken at night. Sure, I feel great and have far less pain, but inevitably I lay there high as a kite and wide awake all night. I’m always exhausted the next morning and day. With tramadol, the insomnia and itchiness side effects are far less. I usually take 10mg for severe pain, and 5mg if it’s less severe. Requip for RLS augments over time and makes symptoms worse (coming on earlier in the day and stronger symptoms) and also causes “poor impulse control.” Botox injections (200 units per calf) worked on the injected area, but I had breakthrough pain elsewhere in my lower legs. I’m now on tramadol, and if this doesn’t work, the only other option is a low-level dose of methadone. I’m grateful to be under the care of a pioneer movement disorder researcher/neurologist in Houston, TX, even though it’s a 4.5 hr drive for appointments. I’m hopeful after reading all the positive comments about tramadol on their RLS.

Tramadol has been a lifesaver for my pain. I do have some unpleasant side effects, but overall it has helped with my fibromyalgia pain and other issues regarding the spine, back, and leg. I’ve been on 300 mg of Tramadol daily for the past 10 due to chronic back issues. After years on it, I felt I built a tolerance and could manage my pain with exercise and injections. My doctor prescribed me Tramadol 50mg for occasional acute pain. I had been using Vicoprofen. I have mild to moderate tinnitus, and NSAIDs cause the condition to worsen. I asked for a non-NSAID pain reliever, and that’s why my doctor prescribed Tramadol. I have found that during times of moderately severe tinnitus when it becomes stressful and actually causes headaches, the Tramadol is VERY effective. I’ve seen several people say they stopped drinking or fixed their anxiety or depression. Also, someone who used it to get off of suboxone. The best medicine ever for pain and depression both! It works well. I’ve been on and off for about 7 years. It’s a miracle pill if you find a good generic, some are horrible! I have been on tramadol a little over a year and a half for a delayed union fracture of my femur. It’s worked great, however, with this last refill, I got a different brand. They’re yellow tablets with 355/u on them, and they don’t seem to be working as well as the football-shaped Teva brand. I haven’t used more than 3 a day and don’t take it every day, only when needed.
